Fresh from his ordeal on a doomed space ship, Andy is discussing Streets of Rage 4 and TMNT Shredder’s Revenge. This time he finds himself fighting through hordes of street punks in a crime-infested city while trying to analyse and discuss Dotemu’s recent beat ’em up throwbacks.
This was the first official episode of Video Game Deathmatch and switched to the five category format. It still carries the 1UP Pod branding. This episode celebrates the proud tradition of side-scrolling arcade beat ’em ups that dominated video game arcades in the ’90s.
Streets of Rage 4 was developed by Dotemu, Guard Crush, & Lizardcube and published by Dotemu in 2020 after gaining the dormant license from Sega. TMNT Shredder’s Revenge dropped in 2022, developed by Tribute Games and also published by Dotemu, as a spiritual sequel to Konami’s TMNT and the Turtles in Time arcade games.
